Most screening appointments are generally available September-May, during school hours (9:00 a.m-1:30 p.m). There are a limited number of late afternoon and Saturday morning appointments, which fill quickly. Please be aware that appointment times fill very quickly. You can expect to find appointment times 4 to 6 weeks (or more) from today.
If you need forms mailed to you, please call 952-988-5017.
How does Virtual Screening Work?
For Virtual (online) Screenings, you will make a screening appointment online or by calling 952-988-5017. Your next step is to review the necessary forms (see the blue button above for forms). You will need to complete activities for the ASQ-3 (see above for directions). Your screening nurse will be meeting with you online using Google Meet and will email you a link just before or at the time of your appointment.
Why does my child need early childhood screening?
The state of Minnesota requires that an Early Childhood Screening be done for every child prior to entering kindergarten. Screening is strongly recommended between 3 and 4 years old, however screenings can be done from age 3-5. Watch the Minnesota Department of Education's video about early childhood screening:
Call 952-988-5017 to schedule an appointment, or schedule online appointments.
What if concerns arise at the screening?
Options include re-screening an area, referral to your health care provider and/or the school district, or referral to preschool or ECFE classes. Resources are also available to help you work with your child at home.
