Dr. Brian Shragg loves Hopkins. The former Royal credits much of his success to the foundation he built inside Hopkins classrooms and in the Hopkins community. After graduating college, he headed west to Los Angeles where he studied dentistry. And after chasing his dream of becoming a dentist, he moved back to his hometown. He is now an associate dentist and said he “absolutely love[s] being able to give back to the community I grew up in.”
Favorite hangout spot during Hopkins High School? I spent a lot of free time in the music department and in the Mall between classes.
Favorite music artist of 2008? Coldplay or Dave Matthews Band.
What teacher or staff member at Hopkins High School made a difference in your life? Rick Rexroth. He was one of the most caring teachers I have ever had. He showed a passion not only for the students academic success, but he also took a vested interest in their personal lives as well, going above and beyond the responsibilities of his position, something that I have tried to emulate in my own life.
How did Hopkins prepare you? Hopkins High School prepared me for the path I have followed by encouraging me to strive for my highest capabilities and by giving me the confidence to achieve my dreams. I always look to the lessons and friendships I made at Hopkins when I reflect on who I’ve become today.
